Launch Press Release 2006

It had been a long-held ambition of successful florist Carol Pike's to take what was on offer in the way of training for Scottish florists to a new level.

Having worked for several years in the more conventional college arena, and more recently for Interflora as a trainer, she was well aware that there was a market for good basic floristry training and also for top-end designer events North of the Border.

The Scottish School of Floristry operates a relaxed timetable of events, workshops and demonstrations tailored both for florists and for those with a keen interest in the top end of floral design for the home. Anyone looking to immerse themselves in the more creative aspects of working with flowers will be delighted with the experience and training now available in Glasgow and around Scotland.

Richard Haslam, NDSF, AIFD a reknowned, inspirational designer from Ireland was the first guest demonstrator at the school and his two wire-work wedding workshop days were a great success.

Richard said, "This is a new and exciting development for Scotland's florists and indeed for anyone with a real passion for flowers. I am delighted to be working with Carol Pike at this time and look forward to supporting the Scottish School of Floristry as it delivers a long-needed and invaluable resource for the floristy sector."
